God’s Mercy Prayer Plan
The daily prayer changes each day. The accompanying prayers are repeated.
Day 1: Returning to God
Merciful Father, help me return to you with honesty. I bring the good I have left undone and the harm I have caused by what I have said or done. Keep me from excuses, and keep me from despair.
Grant me the courage to seek forgiveness, make amends where I can, and begin again. Help me recognize your invitation to a changed life. Let this day of prayer become a first step toward greater faithfulness and love. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name: Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us: and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Day 2: Listening before judging
Lord Jesus, you know each person more fully than I do. When I am quick to judge, help me pause and listen. Give me compassion for the struggles I cannot see, and wisdom to recognize what is true.
Let mercy shape the way I speak about others, especially when they are absent. Where correction is needed, help me offer it with honesty and care. Where I have misunderstood someone, give me the humility to change my mind.
Amen.
Day 3: Seeking reconciliation
Father of mercy, I place before you a relationship marked by distance or conflict. Help me see my own part clearly and take responsibility for it. Give me patience to listen without preparing a defense.
Show me whether a conversation, an apology, or respectful space would serve peace. Help me forgive without denying what happened, and seek reconciliation with wisdom. Where trust must be rebuilt slowly, sustain the work with truth, care, and appropriate boundaries.
Amen.
Day 4: Caring for those in need
Lord, let my prayer lead me toward someone who needs practical care. Help me notice hunger, loneliness, illness, or hardship without turning away because the need feels large. Show me a useful kindness within my reach today.
Bless those whose work brings food, shelter, treatment, and companionship. Give them strength and the resources they need. Teach me to offer help with respect, remembering that every person has a name, a story, and a dignity I must honor.
Amen.
Day 5: Offering patience at home
Merciful God, help me show mercy in the ordinary places of my life. Help me be patient with the people closest to me, whose needs and habits I sometimes take for granted. Guard my words when I am tired or frustrated.
Give me the grace to ask rather than assume, to thank rather than overlook, and to apologize rather than harden my heart. May our home become a place where we can speak honestly about our burdens and where small acts of care are freely given.
Amen.
Day 6: Remembering the forgotten
Father, I pray for those who feel unseen: people living alone, those far from home, those in institutions, and those whom grief or poverty has pushed to the margins. Let them receive faithful companionship and the help their situation requires.
Open my eyes to anyone I have passed by or forgotten. Give me courage to make contact, listen without rushing, and keep a promise of support. Help me offer attention as a real act of mercy.
Amen.
Day 7: Speaking truth with kindness
Lord Jesus, help me bring truth and kindness together. Keep me from using harsh words to prove that I am right, and from avoiding difficult truths merely to preserve my comfort.
When someone needs an honest answer, grant me wisdom about the time, the words, and my own motives. When I need correction, make me willing to receive it. Let our conversations serve understanding, repair, and the good of the people whose lives they affect.
Amen.
Day 8: Receiving God’s mercy
Merciful Father, sometimes I find it easier to offer compassion to another person than to acknowledge my own need for it. Help me receive your forgiveness and the care others offer.
Keep me from confusing humility with endless self-condemnation. Help me acknowledge my sins and keep working to change. Renew my hope. Help me seek your forgiveness in confession and receive the support that strengthens my life of faith.
Amen.
Day 9: Carrying mercy into daily life
God of mercy, let these nine days bear fruit in the way I live. Help me continue the acts of care I have begun, follow through on promises, and remain willing to seek forgiveness.
Bring to mind one person for whom I can pray and one useful action I can take today. When I fail, call me back to patience and honesty. May the mercy I receive become a reason to serve others with a generous heart.
Amen.
About this prayer plan
Prayer Library plan · Original English daily prayers
These nine prayers were composed for Prayer Library around Christian themes of repentance, forgiveness and care for others. They are a different devotion from St. Faustina’s Divine Mercy Novena: they do not reproduce her nine intentions, Diary prayers or the Chaplet. Pray the day’s prayer and the Our Father printed below on each of nine consecutive days. The daily prayers change; the Our Father repeats. This practice has no assigned feast-date schedule.
Pray today’s prayer, then one Our Father. Both prayers are printed below. This is our own prayer practice, distinct from St. Faustina’s novena.
Which version is this?
This is our own novena for God’s mercy. It is not St. Faustina’s Divine Mercy Novena or the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
Can I print all nine days?
Yes. Print all 9 days includes the complete prayers for every day and the source information. You can also save a PDF through your browser’s print dialog.
