St. Anthony of Padua Novena
The same prayer sequence is used each day.
Day 1: Prayers to St. Anthony
O most holy and ever blessed Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, I humbly prostrate myself before Thee. I thank Thee for the great and burning love whereby Thou has chosen from all eternity St. Anthony, to enjoy and contemplate Thee that Thou mayst through him be honored, praised and blessed forever and ever. Amen.
My faithful and beloved Patron, Saint Anthony! I implore thee; show me, dearest Saint, thy powerful intercession before the throne of God; let me experience, I earnestly beseech thee, thy help in all my necessities, especially in this present one (here mention the object of the Novena); grant that I can say with all who have invoked thee: the Omnipotent God of heaven and earth lives and works through His faithful Servant St. Anthony of Padua, forever and ever. Amen.
If then you ask for miracles,
Death, error, all calamities,
The leprosy, the demon fly,
And health succeeds infirmities.
The seas obey, the fetters break,
And lifeless limbs thou dost restore;
While treasures lost are found again,
When young and old thine aid implore.
All dangers vanish at thy prayer,
And direst need doth quickly flee,
Let those who know, thy power proclaim,
Let Paduans say: These are of thee.
The seas obey, the fetters break,
And lifeless limbs thou dost restore;
While treasures lost are found again,
When young and old thine aid implore.
To Father, Son, may glory be
And Holy Ghost eternally.
The seas obey, the fetters break,
And lifeless limbs thou dost restore;
While treasures lost are found again,
When young and old thine aid implore.
P. Pray for us, blessed Anthony,
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
O God, may the votive commemoration of blessed Anthony, thy Confessor, be a source of joy to the church, that she may always be fortified with spiritual assistance and deserve to enjoy eternal reward. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

About this novena
Deymann (1888) · Prayer portion repeated each day
This version follows the prayer portion on pp. 15–16 of Clementinus Deymann’s Devotion to St. Anthony of Padua; or, A Novena in His Honor (1888). The same sequence is used each day. The book first describes a nine-Tuesday practice and explicitly permits nine consecutive days instead on p. 14; this tracker and calendar follow that daily option. The optional litany that follows in the book is not included here. The two abbreviated responsory refrains are written out in full; the printed wording “Thou has” is retained. Other St. Anthony novenas use different texts.
Each day, pray the preparatory prayer, the petition to St. Anthony, the responsory with its repeated refrain and response, then the concluding prayer. Bring your intention to mind where the petition invites it; nothing needs to be entered or stored.
Does the prayer change each day?
No. This 1888 version uses the same prayer sequence on all nine days; the numbered days help you keep your place.
Is this a nine-day novena or a nine-Tuesday devotion?
The book describes nine Tuesdays and also explicitly permits nine consecutive days. This page follows its nine-day option and includes the prayer portion, with the optional litany omitted.
